OPPORTUNITY

The Hartford students we serve are smart, capable, and ambitious. What so many of them lack are access to opportunities. At Capitol Squash, we provide as many opportunities as possible for our students from external summer college prep and squash camps, to travel around the country to matches and tournaments, to community service opportunities, to cultural field trips around New England.

From the moment our students join Capitol Squash, we began to set their sights on post-secondary life. We provide college tours, workshops, and meetings with admissions offices so our students can learn about higher education. We provide career exploration and guidance on non-traditional pathways including trade school, apprenticeships, and direct workforce entry. Our 8th-12th grade students participate in weekly SAT prep and we support our students through every step of the college application process with college essay advising, step-by-step support with completing the FAFSA, support submitting college applications, and finding financial aid opportunities.

Capitol Squash students have gone on to attend Bard College, Bowdoin College, Connecticut College, Mount Holyoke College, Trinity College, University of Connecticut, Vassar College, Wesleyan University, and more.
