BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Chris Aubin has been a volunteer with Capitol Squash since 2014. As his youngest child headed off to college that fall, Chris and his wife Barb were seeking a way to fill the void through community-based volunteering. Capitol Squash provided them with the opportunity to continue teaching children the importance of education above all else, combined with fun, character-building athletics.
Chris has been coaching sports most of his adult life. He was a racquetball teaching pro in the early 80s, and went on to coach his children’s hockey, soccer, lacrosse and baseball teams. Chris has been the owner of SignsPusPrint in East Granby for 32 years, and the co-owner of XL Color in Bloomfield for 20 years. His entrepreneurial bent has led him to create businesses that balance his work life with his passion for coaching kids. Chris lives with his wife Barb in Simsbury and has 3 grown children.
Steve has been a squash enthusiast for over 40 years. Combined with his commitment to helping Hartford’s young people develop and succeed, Steve is a dedicated member of the Capitol Squash board, serving on various committees and volunteering on the courts and in the classroom. Steve is a co-owner of King Koil Northeast, a CT based mattress manufacturing company.
John began his insurance career as a commercial underwriter for The Travelers. He joined RC Knox/People’s United Insurance Agency in 1980, and was CEO from 1998 – 2010 when he became Chairman. He also serves as an account executive for numerous medium and large commercial accounts.
John is a member of the board of the YMCA of Hartford, The Bushnell, Boys and Girls Club of Hartford, and Read to a Child.
John received a B.A. from Clark University and later went on to earn his J.D. degree from Western New England School of Law. He holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation.
Carlos Feged is the Chief Capital Officer at Liberty Mutal Group. He leads a team encompassing risk financing, M&A, debt capital markets, investor relations, treasury, capital strategy and planning and enterprise risk management. Prior to his current role, Carlos was a Managing Director in the Global Strategy and Capital Allocation team at Liberty Mutual Investments (LMI) for four years, where he co-led a team serving as the office of the CIO. Prior to joining LMI, Carlos held roles at The Hartford for 21 years across investment management, risk management and business management. Carlos earned his Master of Business Administration (MBA) with High Distinction from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and his BS in Economics from Universidad de los Andes in his native Colombia. He is a member of the Finance Committee of the Hartford Public Library and lives in South Glastonbury with his wife Martha.
Joe is retired from Northeast Utilities and is a Civil Engineering graduate of the University of Vermont. He serves on the Compensation and Benefits Committee of Capitol Squash and has been a Board member since nearly the beginning of it.
Joe has been an active tutor since the program’s inception and enjoys seeing the academic growth of the students. He is also very grateful for the expansion of the base of tutors so that he no longer gets to help only with math.
He is also a past president of a local youth ice hockey program and is currently on the Board of the Hartford Golf Club Scholarship fund.
Eliot is a lawyer at Pullman & Comley with specialties in business litigation and real estate. He is deeply involved in Capitol Squash and serves on the Executive Committee. Eliot and his wife Kathy live in West Hartford. Nothing makes them prouder than their three successful daughters and grandchildren.
Nicole was born in Hartford and raised in Manchester. She is a 1993 graduate of The Kingswood Oxford School and a 1997 graduate of Goucher College with a double major in Art with an Art History Concentration and Historic Preservation.
While at KO, Nicole played two years of varsity squash and played with anyone who knew the sport at Goucher, even teaching others so she could have more opponents. Nicole helped create, organize and coach the West Hartford Middle School Squash Program and her son played on The Wyvern Club team for two years. She is a Real Estate Agent on the Mashall + Ostop Associates Team at William Raveis in West Hartford.
Nicole lives in West Hartford with my husband Joshua and their two sons, Elliott and Isaac, who have helped support Capitol Squash by collecting clothing for the students in the program.
Tajma began volunteering at Capitol Squash in 2017, in conjunction with her work at Literacy Volunteers of Greater Hartford. Although she had no background in squash, she was drawn to the program after just one visit to after school programming at Trinity College. The children of Capitol Squash captivated her immediately and she soon found herself volunteering daily, as well as participating in their summer programming at Miss Porter’s, where she conducts a writing workshop. Tajma also serves on the Governance Committee.
Walter is president emeritus of the University of Hartford, where he served as president
for nineteen years, from 1998 until his retirement in 2017. During his time as president, the University experienced an unequalled period of enrollment growth, increased academic and financial strength, and an energized involvement with the Hartford community. Harrison was also widely involved as a board member locally and nationally, including his long involvement with governance of the NCAA, having served both as chair of the Committee on Academics and chair of the Board of Governors. As someone with a lifetime love of community service, academics, and athletics, he is thrilled to lead the Capitol Squash Board of Directors. A mediocre squash player who learned the game as an undergraduate at Trinity College, of which he is now a trustee, he is proud of the partnership between these organizations.
Dan has been an active Capitol Squash board member since 2018 and is an active fundraiser for the Capitol Cup. Dan Joseph is the co-founder and President of Corridor Ventures, Inc., a real estate investment company in Central Connecticut. Since its inception in 2002, Corridor has sponsored $500 million in real estate transactions, with a focus on acquiring and operating student and multifamily housing complexes in compelling market environments. Dan has primary responsibility for the direction, strategy, and capital allocation decisions of the company.
Dan has a diverse background as entrepreneur and investor, having started three companies prior to Corridor. In addition, he began his career in structured real estate and middle market finance at Bankers Trust Company and worked in Brand Management for Procter and Gamble following his graduation from business school. Over the course of his career, he has developed particular expertise in structuring, negotiating, and closing acquisitions, and in raising capital. Dan holds an MBA from Wharton and a BA from Tufts University, where he was Captain of the squash team. He is married and has three children. He enjoys a variety of sports, reads incessantly, debates political issues with his wife, and hangs around with his kids whenever possible.
David Kinsley is the President of the Kinsley Group, an energy solutions company headquartered in Connecticut. He’s been on the Capitol Squash Executive Committee since its re-inception and served as the Board Chair until 2019. He’s extremely proud of the success of Capitol Squash, from its start-up phase to becoming recognized as one of the top programs in the country. Knowing that Capitol Squash truly changes kids’ lives inspires him to give time and purse. David has been active in the metro Hartford squash community for years after playing squash in high school and college. Offering a sport to others from which he’s received so much is deeply gratifying.
Ken is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and is the Executive Director of Global Benefits Strategy for Raytheon Technologies. A Connecticut native, Ken and his wife Sharon lived in Charlotte, NC for 20 years, returning to the Nutmeg State in 2013, after United Technologies acquired Ken’s employer in Charlotte, Goodrich Corporation, along with their daughters Ansley and Amelia. While in Charlotte, Ken served as a trustee of the Charlotte Firefighters Retirement System and as a board member of the Echo Foundation, an education and humanitarian focused non-profit. Ken co-founded the University of Virginia Squash Club in the mid-1980’s. He returned to playing squash after a long hiatus upon moving back to Connecticut and joined the board of Capitol Squash in 2014. He leads Capitol Squash’s Compensation and Benefits Committee and is an enthusiastic participant in Squash + Education Alliance meetings and events.
George is the treasurer of Capitol Squash and serves on the Executive, Finance, and Compensation and Benefits Committees. George was introduced to squash at the age of 23 in Yokosuka, Japan while he was in the U.S. Navy. He has loved the game and played ever since. George is the President of the Manhattan Realty Group. He lives in Essex with his wife Sally.

They have been married for over 30 years and working together the last 20 in the business Jane founded in 1985, Educational Playcare. In 2019 they sold their 20 childcare and preschool centers and in 2021 they launched The Nest Schools which they plan to build to a national company of childcare and preschools. Neither play squash (however they grow and eat it), however their devotion to the program stems from their personal experience with the impacts the program has on the lives of children.
Brewster is the Commercial Lines Client Executive at Smith Brothers Insurance. Before Smith Brothers, Brewster worked at Hilb Rogal and Hobbs and Willis Group. A Trinity College graduate, Brewster served in the Peace Corps for three years as a volunteer and recruiter. He has lived in West Hartford with his wife Judith since 1971 and is active on many boards in the Greater Hartford area. Brewster has served as Chair of the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, United Way of Greater Hartford, Easter Seals, NCCJ and presently Chair of the Board of Trustees for the University of Saint Joseph.

Ben is Owner of The Reder Agency, an insurance brokerage that he founded in 2012. He has always had an entrepreneurial spirit, previously owning a home improvement company as well as managing a personal portfolio of real estate investments. Ben graduated from Trinity College in 2003, where he developed an appreciation for the game of squash, a recreational hobby he continues to pursue in his free time. He began volunteering with Capitol Squash in 2016 and joined the Board of Directors the following year. Ben’s involvement with the organization coupled with his business success are a large reason why he was named one of the Hartford Business Journal’s “40 Under 40” in 2019. Ben resides in West Hartford with his family.
Growing up playing tennis, Isaac switched to become a squash enthusiast a few years after moving to the greater Hartford area in 2001. Watching local collegiate squash and meeting friends on several squash courts in greater Hartford, Isaac has enjoyed being a member of the squash community — one where Isaac hopes to contribute to as a Board member for Capitol Squash. Isaac is a neurologist who specializes in stroke medicine and is based at Hartford Hospital.
Lynne is a lifelong endurance athlete and is committed to sharing her passion for training and racing with as many people as possible. This fire has brought her through many different professional endeavors from ABC Sports and ESPN to developing a women’s sports website for Oxygen Media to sharing her passion for triathlons through Team Training New England and creating a space for women to “play” at the breathe retreat.
All of these experiences have brought her to her latest endeavor; the co-owner of Imagine Float. Imagine Float, a sanctuary for self-care, is Greater Harford’s only boutique float and wellness center offering floatation therapy, cryotherapy, infrared sauna and compression therapy. Imagine Float opened in May 2019.
Lynne began her squash career as a member of the Squash club at Connecticut College in New London, CT in 1987. While her squash skills have not improved much over the decades, she continues to enjoy being a part of this community and meeting new people through the sport. She is passionate about contributing to the laudable mission of empowering the youth of Hartford to reach their potential as athletes, students, and engaged citizens.
Richard has spent more than 50 years playing and being involved with squash in one way or another. Originally from South Africa, where he learnt the game, Richard landed on these shores 24 years ago when he sold his software company to IBM. Thereafter, he held various executive positions with retail-related software companies. Currently, when not playing squash, Richard is Partner with Columbus Consulting International, and works with many well-known retailers in the US and EU to help them optimize their inventory management and merchandising processes.
Charmaine is a Hartford resident and an Adjunct Professor at the University of Hartford. She earned a BA and a MA degree from Trinity College. Charmaine became a member of the Capitol Squash Board in 2016. She also serves on the Board of Directors of the West Indian Foundation (WIF). Charmaine is an avid runner and a squash enthusiast who loves to get on court -and enjoys being beaten- with Capitol Squash students every chance she gets.
Ted has served on the Board since 2016 and serves as the Secretary for Capitol Squash. Ted retired in June 2020 as a partner of Murtha Cullina LLP, where he focused his practice on business law, securities and mergers and acquisitions. He has also counseled CT nonprofits on governance, finance and contract matters for years. Ted completed a fellowship in nonprofit work at UCONN’s School of Public Policy in the Fall of 2020. Ted serves on the Board of the Mark Twain House, Junior Achievement and several local organizations in Weekapaug, RI. Ted has played squash since childhood, through high school and college. Ted’s daughter and sons have also pursued squash during their Taft/Hotchkiss years, and in college. Ted remains an active player in the Hartford region.
Honorary Members
Paul is the Head Men’s Squash Coach at Trinity College, a professional speaker, and author. As a two-time Olympic Coach-of-the-Year, World Championship Coach and the “winningest coach in college sports history,” Paul has motivated top athletes from around the world. He authored the book, Run to the Roar: Coaching to Overcome Fear, a reflection on leadership and mentoring. Paul is a 1974 graduate of Springfield College and holds a master’s degree from Long Island University.
Wendy Bartlett is the Head Women’s Squash Coach at Trinity College. Bartlett’s teams have won three College Squash Association National Team Championships, including back-to-back victories in 2002 and 2003 and eleven years later in 2014. Along with the three titles, Trinity has finished as a College Squash Association National Team Championships finalist four times. Trinity remains the only women’s New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) champion, winning every season since the inaugural championship in 2007. She has coached 54 different players who have earned All-American squash honors in 36 years. Bartlett was inducted into the College Squash Association Hall of Fame in February of 2019. She is also a member of the College Squash Association’s Board of Directors.
Bartlett earned her bachelor’s degree from Rollins College and obtained her master’s degree in physical education from Central Connecticut State University. A professor at the College, Bartlett also served as Trinity’s women’s tennis head coach from 1984 to 2015.
